Class Descriptions
Gentle Yoga Flow:
A great class for beginners, Gentle Yoga is a combination of postures coordinated with the breath, performed at a gentle pace which allows time to be present in each pose. This class provides the opportunity to explore your practice, to find the play between strength and flexibility, stability and ease, and to gain a greater understanding of physical alignment and balance. Gentle yoga is for all levels of experience and flexibility.
Yin Yoga:
Yin yoga targets your deep connective tissues, like your fascia, ligaments, joints, and bones. It’s slower and more meditative, giving you space to turn inward and tune into both your mind and the physical sensations of your body. Because you’re holding poses for a longer period of time than you would in other traditional types of yoga, yin yoga helps you stretch and lengthen those rarely-used tissues while also teaching you how to breathe through discomfort and sit with your thoughts.
Restorative Yoga:
The intention is to relax as far as possible into the postures, using as little physical effort as possible. The mind focuses on the breath in order to cultivate mindfulness and release tension from the body. Restorative yoga classes are relaxing and slow paced, with a whole sequence using as few as five or six postures which are held for long periods of time. Props are also used in order to allow the body to be in the most comfortable, supported position possible. This may include bolsters, blankets, blocks and belts.
Hatha Yoga:
Hatha is a gentle yoga style that focuses on flowing from pose to pose while linking the movement with the breath. Hatha means "stubborn" or "willful," emphasizing the persistence of practice that leads to mastery of the mind, body, and spirit. In Sanskrit, "ha" translates to "sun" and "tha" means "moon." The word itself denotes the style's balance between gentle and vigorous, as well as the balance we experience in our daily lives. Considered a light aerobic exercise, hatha yoga helps develop strength, flexibility, balance, concentration, and relaxation. Our class will begin with a gentle warm-up, advance into heat-building and peak poses, and end with a short meditation. Hatha yoga is suitable for both beginner and advanced students.
Vinyasa Flow:
This beginner friendly flow based practice focuses on the foundational sequences of Vinyasa. Emphasis is placed on feeling and finding the pose alignment, as well as syncing movement with breath. This class is ideal for beginners of any age or physical condition or experienced students who want a slower paced, less strenuous class.
Yoga Conditioning:
This class is designed to work on the conditioning, stamina, and strength that you might find in a traditional gym class but with the mindfulness and intention of a yoga practice. Each class will include breathwork, a series of exercises to build a strong core and tone major muscle groups, and a relaxing savasana. You’ll gain overall strength and improve balance and flexibility, while simultaneously calming the mind and destressing the body. Great for students of all levels.
Therapeutic Yoga Massage:
This class is a fusion of relaxing and supported yoga poses with hands on massage therapy. You hold each pose for 5-10 minutes while the massage therapist performs manual massage on different muscle groups. Enjoy a completely luxurious, relaxing experience that include a warm room with soft lighting and yoga props for ample support and comfort. Your experience can also include essential oils, warm towels, and more! No yoga experience is required. Lead by Hanni and Michelle.
